Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Jam: September 2026

A "Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Jams" sweets label with red and white stripes and the text on a yellow scroll.

If you’re looking for a push to get creative, wizard rockers and friends, you’re in the right department. The Every Flavour Jam has a new prompt for the month, but first, let’s see how you’ve taken on the Ministry of Magic.

The Bookish Hufflepuff put it in black and white: a newspaper-style spread full of wizard rock lyrics about the Ministry.

I used this month’s prompt to channel my anger at mass media in the world today. There are so many good songs about fighting back against oppressive government, and it was hard to choose which ones to include. But I knew I would center everything around the line “The Prophet’s now a mouthpiece for the Ministry” because it shows the ways news media can be corrupted by unjust government.

Including quotes from:

Hand-drawn newspaper-style word art, featuring drawings of Education Decree No. 23 and an Undesireable No. 1 poster, a Quibbler page, and the following quotes: "Now that he's back, I think I see the utter denial from the Ministry" written by The Bookish Hufflepuff "Don't get discouraged with Cornelius Fudge! Don't believe that your voice doesn't count! If the patriarchy is holding you down, stand strong together with us!" written by Tonks and the Aurors "It's time to take the auror oath. so repeat after me: I will fight! (I will fight!) For what's right! (For what's right!) For all people! (For all people!) Against evil! (Against evil!)" written by Tonks and the Aurors "Hundreds of years of systematic oppression are gonna bring about a little bit of aggression" written by Tonks and the Aurors "You can only ignore Dumbledore for so long You can convince yourself that the Ministry knows what's going on" written by Harry and the Potters "This isn't a lie! He's back now but still you deny everything I have said, you're too afraid to believe." written by RiddleTM "I'm not gonna put on the monkey suit! I'm not gonna dance for the Ministry" written by Harry and the Potters "Acting with impunity that's the way of the Ministry" written by Potterwatch "You've got the Trace, the Taboo. They're always watching you! What are they looking for? Why are they listening? In times of peace, it seems like overreach and opens the door for misuse in times of war" written by Harry and the Potters "There's no news about Scrimgeour's death 'cause Voldemort controls the press" and "There's no news about the Ministry's fall 'cause Voldemort controls it all" and (in green) "The Prophet's now a mouthpiece for the Ministry" written by Harry and the Potters "The Ministry has fallen. The Minister of Magic is dead. They are coming." Fickle Fudge claims "But it wasn't my fault!" written by Dream Quaffle.

The prompt for September is a little different: smell. From fresh pumpkin juice to old books, from moldy haggis to amortentia, smell can make a scene is so many different ways. Follow your nose and make whatever comes to mind! As usual, any medium is welcome, and nothing has to be perfect, nor even complete.
