If you’re looking for a push to get creative, wizard rockers and friends, you’re in the right department. The Every Flavour Jam has a new prompt for the month, but first, let’s see how you’ve taken on the Ministry of Magic.
The Bookish Hufflepuff put it in black and white: a newspaper-style spread full of wizard rock lyrics about the Ministry.
I used this month’s prompt to channel my anger at mass media in the world today. There are so many good songs about fighting back against oppressive government, and it was hard to choose which ones to include. But I knew I would center everything around the line “The Prophet’s now a mouthpiece for the Ministry” because it shows the ways news media can be corrupted by unjust government.
Including quotes from:
- Myself (the Bookish Hufflepuff) – “My Wizard Resistance”
- Tonks and the Aurors – “Wizard Rock the Vote,” “Yes All Witches!,” and “Aurors Fight!”
- Harry and the Potters – “Cornelius Fudge is an Ass,” “(Not Gonna Put On) The Monkey Suit,” “The Trace,” and “On the Importance of Media Literacy Under Authoritarian Rule.”
- RiddleTM – “I Must Not Tell Lies”
- Potterwatch – “Dolores Umbridge”
- Dream Quaffle – “Fickle Fudge”
- official quotes / drawings – Educational Decree #23 making Umbridge the High Inquisitor, Harry’s Quibbler article about Voldemort’s return, an “Undesirable No. 1” poster with a hand-drawn Harry, and the quote “The ministry has fallen. The minister of magic is dead. They are coming.” from Kingsley Shacklebolt in Deathly Hallows.

The prompt for September is a little different: smell. From fresh pumpkin juice to old books, from moldy haggis to amortentia, smell can make a scene is so many different ways. Follow your nose and make whatever comes to mind! As usual, any medium is welcome, and nothing has to be perfect, nor even complete.
