Site News

Unlike the last site update we posted, this one is for real. The ‘pedia will be down on Sunday for some important updates. At the moment, we are being held back by some technical issues with the site that we want to fix.

Ok, take a deep breath.

The Wizrocklopedia is going to look different. Before you have the knee-jerk reaction of “Oh, no, CHANGE!”, we ask that you give it a chance. We worked very hard to keep the same general aesthetics of the site – the concept of The World of Wrock is still there; the color scheme is basically the same.

The new site will have a much more functional calendar (which means it will be updated regularly!). We’ll have more forms for bands and fans to utilize as ways to get us information. This is all going to be very important as we get into the summer months and have more news and shows going on. We have also revamped the bands list. Once the new site is up, you will be able to view bands based on whether or not they have been active in the past six months. It will also include all sorts of new bands that weren’t on the list before (thanks to Marauder and everyone else that gave us a heads up on those!). We want you to make sure that you take a look and refresh your memory about wizard rock in 2008 because in mid-April, we are going to start nominations for the 2009 Wizard Rock People’s Choice Awards! The final winners will be announced on Thursday, May 21st.

Finally, I just want everyone to be aware of all the work that Aaron, our resident web guru, has put into this. Dinah and I don’t have the technical know-how to implement everything that we want, but Aaron patiently listens to our demands and makes them happen. This occurs on a more regular basis than most people probably realize, and he deserves mucho props for the new site. Yay Aaron!

If I find more bands, should I send them to you guys now or hold them for a little bit?

    Cheers for Aaron !
What would Wrock be without the Pedia.

Congrats! I am a big fan of the ‘Pedia and can’t wait for the changes.

I have one feature suggestion if its not out of line.
I always wanted a way to see a listing of available YouTube videos of bands, either by tagging videos or submitting links.

Either way keep up the good work! Hope to see you guys at LeakyCon!

@Marauder: ASAP would be great! I’m adding them this weekend.

@Jonathon: That would be awesome! Doing it by band shouldn’t be horribly difficult, I wouldn’t think. Hm. Definitely going on the list.

Is the wiki on the list of things that might make a comeback? 😉

But, anyways, I’m glad you guys are able to get some work on the site, and GOOOO AARON! Thanks so much all of you for all the hard work you put into this amazing resource.

Sounds like you’re making some really cool changes. I’m glad the WRPCAs are still happening, because I really enjoy them. Also, it should be very cool to be able to see bands based on whether they’ve been active lately or not. And yay for new bands!

That sounds great! I vote for the wiki to come back too – I’d even volunteer to keep it updated from the site, if need be.

@Zivlok and Shelly – The wiki is definitely on our list. It will be a big undertaking, so it isn’t going to be right away. Sorry! But we’ll just all have to be patient (because I know I want it back up and running, too!)

What all of you have done so far gets an “Outstanding” so I’m excited to see what you come up with next.
