Welcome back to Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Jam. Another monthly creative challenge lies ahead.
The prompt in March was death.
The Bookish Hufflepuff shared a sneak peek of an in-progress song. She says:
This is the first song I’m recording for my upcoming album, “Golden Trio, Where are You?” I worked hard on the Dobby voice, listening to the song Dobby’s Draw My Life (Avbyte) and the Dobby scene from the movies a lot.
Lyrics:
[chorus]
You said
Dobby, never save my
Dobby, never save my
Dobby, never save my life again
But Dobby is a free elf now
Dobby is a free elf now
And Dobby cares about his friends!
[verse 1]
Dobby doesn’t want to break a promise
But Dobby needs to get you out of there!
In that manor Harry Potter will die
If Dobby doesn’t act, it won’t be fair!
Harry Potter got Dobby out of that manor
Now it’s time for Dobby to repay the favor
Though you said
[chorus]
Dobby, never save my
Dobby, never save my
Dobby, never save my life again
But Dobby is a free elf now
Dobby is a free elf now
And Dobby cares about his friends!
[verse 2]
The owner of the Hog’s Head did find Dobby
Hiding in the kitchens – he was scared!
Master Aberforth was sympathetic
And he could tell that Dobby really cared!
He told little Dobby he must venture
To the place Dobby swore he’d never return
Dobby would have to save Harry Potter
Though Dobby would rather see the manor burn!
Dobby told the bartender of his promise
He never would save Harry’s life again
But Master Aberforth convinced him
That Dobby would be doing the right thing.
[chorus]
You said
Dobby, never save my
Dobby, never save my
Dobby, never save my life again
But Dobby is a free elf now
Dobby is a free elf now
And Dobby cares about his friends!
For April, let’s bring our attention to: underappreciated characters. Whether they were a one-scene wonder or just aren’t talked about enough, this is an opportunity to bring your favorites to the forefront, or to branch out a little.
Anyone is welcome to join, and any medium is fair game. I hope to see you here in a month!
