Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Jam: August 2025

A "Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Jams" sweets label with red and white stripes and the text on a yellow scroll.

Are you ready for a new creative challenge, wrockers and friends? You’ve come to the right place—but first, it’s time to discover what you’ve done based on last month’s theme.

For July’s theme of discovery, Hostwitch Bess of WZRD Radio Podcast did an artsy experiment, decorating a blank matryoshka set with Harry Potter book cover images and Mod Podge. That’s a first for the Jam! It’s fun to see a new medium.

Large, medium, and small matryoshka dolls with various scaled-down Harry Potter book covers wrapped around them with white adhesive coating.

The Bookish Hufflepuff released a new song, “Learning How To Dance”, with this commentary:

This song represents Neville’s self-discovery that starts in Goblet of Fire. Neville has bettered himself through learning more about herbology, and it gives him the confidence to learn to dance, a skill he would otherwise be very poor at.

This is a special BBEFJ for me because it marks my anniversary of being in the wizard rock community. Because I’ve discovered wizard rock, I’m going on to learn new talents as well. Neville is another character who I see as very representative of my journey.

“Learning How To Dance” will also be on the upcoming Just Joy compilation from WZRD Radio Podcast. Make sure you check out that album when it’s released! It’s sure to be a good listen.

The Galleon Guy went on an adventure this summer, traveling all the way to Chicago, Illinois. He shared with us a slideshow of some of the things he discovered on his trip. He even wrote a song parodying “The Yellow Rose of Texas” and “Go Cubs Go” with lyrics to match the slides. What a treat to get to come along for the ride!

Check out the slideshow here. The Galleon Guy recommends auto play mode to hear the music, or if that doesn’t work, here’s a Dropbox link to the song.

As we wrap up the Summer of Fun, let’s use August to get silly. What wacky ideas come to you in the middle of the night? What ridiculous in-jokes inspire you? Find your silly and run with it! Reminder: nothing in Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Jam has to be perfect, nor even finished.

Meanwhile, WZRD Radio Podcast is putting together a Summer of Fun zine, taking submissions until the end of August. Go get creating!
