The Wrock Wreview: Magic Jukebox

The Album

I am thrilled to have the absolute pleasure of reviewing Dream Quaffle‘s first ever wizard rock EP! Magic Jukebox is a five song album all about the best parts of the wizarding world. This album was released on the first of October, 2021. The final track has trumpet and saxophone solos performed by Totally Knuts and Chasitherin respectively! Let’s put a knut into the jukebox and see what there is to play!

The Tracks

The first song on the album is a shout-out to all the Hufflepuffs out there. Just and Loyal points out the great parts about being in the house of the badger. I love the single guitar throughout the song, and Dream Quaffle’s vocal performance is incredible. I especially like how each verse mentions each other Hogwarts House in comparison to Hufflepuff.

Ready to kick it up a notch? I Want to Be a Weasley is a high-energy electric song from Harry’s point of view. He is ready to leave the Dursley’s behind to join his favorite wizarding family. I was dancing along to the music for the whole song – it’s so catchy and hype!

Paw Prints in the Sand is slower and dripping with longing. This heartbreaking song has Harry facing his feelings about Sirius after he fell through the veil. I love sad wizard rock songs, and this one hit me right in the feels. At the end of the song I had tears in my eyes. 10/10 highly recommend.

Dream Quaffle switches from a guitar to a ukulele for Fickle Fudge. This hilarious song has Cornelius Fudge trying to defend every questionable decision he has made. I really liked this one – it perfectly captured the frustration that every Potter fan feels toward Fudge.

The final song to this glorious EP is Magic Jukebox. My partner and I got to play instrumental solos for this one, so I’ve had the pleasure to listen to it quite a lot. I had a lot of fun with it, and it is a super fun song. It’s a great song to end a perfectly wonderful album.

In Summary

The quality of Dream Quaffle’s first ever wizard rock debut absolutely blew me away. I loved the takes on different parts of the wizarding world, the instrumental performance, the vocals – just everything about the album. I can’t wait to see what Dream Quaffle has in store for us next!
