The Wrock Wreview: HP EP

The Album

Hello and happy Saturday! We’re going to take a look at a five song EP today entitled HP EP. This album was recorded live in Corbad‘s house and was released on Bandcamp on July 16, 2011. HP EP is all about the Golden Trio, their friendship, and their history with each other and all that they’ve gone through. Let’s jump right in.

The Tracks

Wizard is first up in this EP. It’s about Harry, Ron, and Hermione and their unique friendship. It’s a slower, serious song that’s filled with love and happiness. I loved the vocals combined with the instrumentals. The song reminded me of relaxing on a warm sunny afternoon, surrounded by friends and a summer breeze.

There is a sweet theme of support and being there for your friends in the next song, Harry. Again it is a slow and serious song, and it gives weight to the fact that friendship can come with challenges and hardships as well as all of the good things it brings. It’s beautiful and passionate, and serves as a wonderful reminder that we don’t have to go through our troubles alone.

Ron is a light-hearted song from Hermione’s perspective. She sings about how he is worth more to her than his old clothes and hand-me-downs. It was refreshing to hear the instrumentals being more upbeat than the two previous songs, and the lyrics were lovely. My favorite lyrics from this song are:

You may not have been the Chosen One
But I chose you, I chose you

We go back into a slower vibe with Hermione. This was a favorite of mine. I loved the lyrics about how Hermione held the Golden Trio together so many times. She is such a strong character in the books and undermines herself more than she should. This song was a beautiful tribute to her character.

This is a beautiful place to be with friends finishes up this sweet EP. I won’t list all the places where it is beautiful to be with friends, but suffice it to say that anywhere you are, as long as your friends are with you, it’s beautiful enough. I loved the passion in the vocal performance, and it was a gorgeous song to end this incredible album.

In Summary

I honestly forgot that this was recorded live until I looked back at the description after I had listened to the songs. That’s just one example of how great the quality of this EP was. I enjoyed every single thing about each and every song, but the thing that stood out to me the most was the lyrics and how in depth they went for each character in the Golden Trio. It is a beautiful piece of art and it definitely gets my recommendation. Overall, I give this EP Three Gold Stars (one for each member of the Trio)!

Thanks so much for this incredible review! I am delighted that this community is still alive, well, and so gosh-darn kind. I recorded this album with my brother ten years ago, but I am still very proud of it, and I’m absolutely tickled by your generous golden review. ??
Perhaps this encouragement will boost my resolve to get around to rerecording this with a more polished studio feel!
