The Wrock Wreview: Drarry Love

The Album

Hello and happy Saturday! Today we’re going to take a look at Drarry Love, an album by Room of Whateva. Hailing from Finland, this wizard rock band has compiled nine of their songs that are about Harry and Draco, or Albus Severus and Scorpius. It was released on April 3, 2015. Let’s take a look at what they have!

The Tracks

The first track is called Hotter than Potter. With rising crescendos, soft harmonies, and saucy lyrics, this was a great start to the album. It’s from the point of view of Draco Malfoy, and the repeating bassline really drove the lyrics forward. I was particularly impressed with the layering of vocals.

Draco and Harry (the naughty version) *Explicit* is a cover of a Whomping Willows song by the same name. This version is a lot more risqué than the original, and it had a very similar vibe to the first track on the album (same type of bassline and vocals). I enjoyed it!

The next song is an incredibly sweet love song from Draco to Harry. It starts off with a soft guitar, and the harmonies throughout the song got me Feeling Things. We can only hope that Draco’s Master Plan works out!

Impro Ficsong Chapter 6 – Harry at Forest *sort of explicit…* is a little over fifteen minutes long and starts off with a quiet and eerie introduction. Suddenly it transitions to a new section with a beat and Draco singing to Harry. Draco flirts and reminisces about the times when they had a detention together with Hagrid in the Forbidden Forest. Then Harry retorts with the fact that Draco has misunderstood his intentions. Draco finishes the song by daydreaming about what life with Harry would be like.

Next up is an a capella song called The Best Few Minutes in Draco’s Life. The backup vocals and harmonies are amazing and I love the snaps that are in there as well. This was easily one of my favorite songs on the album. The track right after this one is the same song, but with guitar (The best few minutes in Draco’s life (guitar version)). It’s in a different key and has a very different sound than the a capella version.

Come or Go is a beautifully sweet love song that has backup vocals which are out of this world. The voices in this one are ethereal and gorgeous. This is another of my favorites.

Potions Yesterday by Draco and the Malfoys is one of my all time favorite wizard rock songs, so I was excited to see a cover of it in this album. Potions (DatM Remake) has a very different sound compared to the original. It’s slower, softer, and in a minor key, which gives it a sad and longing quality.

I Like You (aka When Scorp Asked ASP Out) is another a capella song. Again I am impressed by the background vocals and how perfectly they fit in with each other. This is a sweet and simple song between two boys.

In Summary

The singer’s quality of voice is one of the sweetest I’ve ever heard. The way that the harmonies are performed, and also the solo work, is simply fantastic. Even though I’ve never personally shipped Draco and Harry together, I really enjoyed listening to this album. I highly recommend that you give it a listen, whether or not you agree with these ships. This album gets a 10/10 would listen again!
