The Wrock Wreview: The Time Has Come

The Album

Happy Saturday! Today we’re going to be reviewing a short little EP called The Time Has Come by The Rotfang Conspiracy. Only four tracks long, this EP was released on July 26, 2020. And now, without further ado, the time has come to review this EP!

The Tracks

Parental Neglect is first up, and let me tell you – I was not prepared for this absolute JAM. Clean drums combined with (dare I say it?) dirty guitar makes for an excellent start to this EP. “Like a ferret you’ll be hunted” was definitely my favorite lyric from this one.

Next up is a track called Job Security. The instrumentals just blow me away. This song is from the point of view of a Ministry of Magic worker after Voldemort returns. I especially love the lyrics, because we don’t usually hear much from the points of view of Ministry workers, either in the books or in wizard rock.

Untarnished Acceptance is about Harry’s walk toward Voldemort as he goes to meet his death. I loved the change of vocals in this song, and how the rhythm sounded like footsteps, heavy and meaningful.

The fourth and final track to The Time Has Come is called Deserved Disgust. At just under two minutes long, the lyrics pulled at my heartstrings and the instrumentals really struck a chord with me (pun intended).

In Summary

I always keep telling myself I’m not a metal fan, yet every time I hear wizard rock metal I have to second guess myself. This four track EP blew me away with its incredible vocals, deep lyrics, and amazing instrumentals. I continue to be impressed with how someone can do that with their vocal chords and keep going! All in all, I rate this EP One Elder Wand (but it’s made out of metal).
