Everybody Needs Love!

The Weapon We Have Is Love

Hello, lovers of the wizarding world! It’s Valentine’s Day! If there’s one thing Wizard Rock fans understand, it’s the power of love. So let’s share it!

Today, I’m going to share some wrock songs that stray away from the usual relationships we all love (or hate) and focus on a few outside of the canon.

First up? A classic.

In Which Draco and Harry Secretly Want to Make Out

I dare you not to sing along to this Whomping Willows hit from their 2007 album, Welcome to the House of Awesome. Also, it feels unbelievable that at one time people in the United States couldn’t marry someone because of their gender.

Kissing Cousins

Did you see the announcement that Gred and Forge are going to be on the Wizrocklopedia Wrock Comp Club thing? I freaking LOVE this song because the thought of Fred and George hitting on Fleur’s veela family members brings me unmeasurable joy. And they’re not really related, so it’s fine.

One Last Scar

This list wouldn’t be complete with a song about our favorite guncles, Remus and Sirius. This beautiful song from the Buttermellows is another classic that will hit you directly in the feels. And that voice!

Oliver Wood

NOTE: This is a bonus track.

You could probably cancel Valentine’s Day, but you know what you can’t cancel? Quidditch. At least that’s what Oliver Wood will tell you. The Basilisk In Your Pizza let their needs be known in this song about Gryffindor’s most dedicated Captain. Seriously, if you haven’t listened to the I Ate My From (Again) EP from this French wrock band, go listen ASAP. This song is a hidden track, so go ahead and download the whole EP.

Totally Knuts

If you’re looking for an entire discography of songs celebrating lesser imagined relationships, I suggest checking out Totally Knuts, a wrock band focused on making inclusive music. They’ve created albums such as Witches Loving Witches and Wizards Loving Wizards. Plus, I hear that they may have new music coming out very soon…

That Goat Doesn’t Love You

Finally, I’ll leave you with one of the most ridiculous songs ever written, That Goat Doesn’t Love You by (yours truly) How Airplanes Fly. Though, I have to say that there’s no evidence that Aberforth did anything inappropriate with any animals.

So, what are your favorite wizard rock songs celebrating love? Let us know in the comments!

And remember, don’t let any corporate holiday make you feel bad about yourself – you’re awesome and you’re loved.
