Flashback Friday – WZRD

This week’s Flashback Friday isn’t so much about a certain band or song – it’s about a podcast that helped introduce wizard rock itself to countless Harry Potter fans.

That’s right, this week’s Flashback Friday is WZRD!

Jamie and Amy released 50 episodes of WZRD starting in 2006, before wrapping up in early 2011. Their hard work and dedication brought them countless listeners, and helped introduce new fans into the community while inspiring many others to start their own bands.

WZRD shows usually consisted of playing songs, discussing shows and cons, and very often having an interview with a wrock band on each episode. We’ve linked to their Podcast Alley page here so anyone can go grab past episodes and listen to some great music and interviews, but if you’re an iTunes fan you can grab all their episodes through the iTunes store.

I discovered wrock in 2006 and fell in love with it completely in 2007. After fronting a band that played too loud & sang too out of tune but got to perform at Wrockstock anyways, I traded in the guitar and drums for a keyboard to help with the ‘pedia. You may still hear (or see) me bashing away on the drums for other wrock bands.

    Oh wow. WZRD. Blast from the past. They definitely helped me jump into the community when I first started listening to wizard rock all of those years ago!

    I found so many of my favourite wrock bands and songs through WZRD. They had such a great mix of music and well-done other features, not to mention two fab presenters. I loved all the WZRD jingles made by different bands too.
