Question Tuesday!

question_tuesday

We’re doing our best to ramp things up here at the ‘pedia, and with summer quickly approaching we promise that we’ll have a lot more content, and provided on a much more regular basis!

So with that in mind, here’s this week’s question:

What new features, articles, columns, reviews, etc. would you like to see here on the Wizrocklopedia?

With summer tours coming up, we hope to have some “road diary” type entries from the bands, and we’d LOVE to have some reviews of upcoming shows and cons (and even ones that recently happened in the past!). We’d like to help review some of the newer albums that have been coming out as well, but we’d also really like to know what sort of features YOU, the reader, would like to see.

Drop a comment below and let us know! And if you have an idea for an article or review/writeup that you think you’d do a great job writing up, please drop us a line, we’d love to hear from you.

Good question. I’m a sucker for the old wrock bands, and I know of two people who review older bands already, them being the Wrock Snob, of course, and my brother Michael, who runs WrockFanReviews on wordpress. In any case, the reviews are pretty much covered.

Your news updates are a great courtesy thing, and usually full of useful stuff.

I think something like interviews with current and former wizard rock musicians would be extremely interesting, though I’d have no idea how to get that started.

Finally, on two issues related to the “Bands” section, I think that there are a fairish amount of bands not on the alphabetical list, and I think it’s best that they get added sometime, somehow. Mind you, I’m talking about bands that formed and dissolved during the absence of this site, ones who haven’t fulled out the section to add their band here. Lastly, I’d like the location part of the bands list to be updated with newly added acts.

I don’t run a site, so I have no idea of the complications of any of these ideas, but those are the thing toply on my mind.

Thanks for the input James, it’s appreciated. We’re working on some interviews and current content from bands, so that’s on the way. Snobby’s working on a whole series of articles about short lived, but excellent bands, and we’re working on featuring some of the newer bands as well.

Re: bands list – that list is only as good as the info we’re given. Unfortunately it’s not as simple as it used to be to get things updated, when MySpace blogs and friend adds covered it all. I’ll be more than happy to update the list with whatever info I can get, however much older info (like locations, for instance) was fake on bands’ MySpace profiles – if we had a section for “Hogwarts” or “Hogsmeade”, there’d be 200+ bands from there!

Actually, the comment about info applies all around – we’ve been scouring Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter, etc. to get info on news, updates, new bands, etc. but I’m sure there’s some we’re missing. The absolute BEST way to make sure we can get it covered is to let us know about it; even if you think we already have the info, it can’t hurt, believe me 🙂

I’ll be going to Leaky London this year. Would you like me to take some pictures and do a review/highlights article for it? I’ll be at a fairly loose end for most of it and would love to help out the ‘pedia, as well as document my last UK con (I’m moving to Canada for university!) for the forseeable future.

Absolutely! Drop us an email and we can talk about it.
