Question Tuesday

Now the the Wizrocklopedia has returned, we thought this would make a great question for this week’s Question Tuesday:

What wizard rock band would you like to see make a comeback?

In the interest of having some great discussion in the comments section, let’s actually stretch that question out to TWO bands. This way, we don’t have a whole line of comments that all just say THE MUDBLOODS.

So let’s hear it! What two defunct/retired/disappeared wizard rock bands would you love to hear new music from and/or see perform live??

MC Kreacher. Mary and the GrandPres.

I don’t know if either band ever officially left the scene/broke up/whateva, but they haven’t been active and I miss them.

The Mudbloods.. Forevah. And I don’t know if this counts, but The Moaning Myrtles? I don’t know if Lauren plans to do any Myrtle-themed songs again, but I love when she does 🙂

I’d certainly be up for more music from Peeved, Hogwarts Trainwreck, Alas Earwax, or the Weasel King.

MC Kreacher is a good pick. Personally, I absolutely LOVE The Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office. I know they had one album, but after that, I don’t think they’ve done anything. Also, if Split Seven Ways [Zoe, I think], isn’t active anymore, she deserves a mention. To top it off, I have to mention my second favorite female wrocker after Split Seven Ways, Seven Potters. “Seven Past Five From Stoatshead Hill” is in my top ten favorite wrock songs, and the rest of the album is pretty good, too.

Also, quickly, I’ve been listening to a LOT of wrock lately off of MySpace, and there are some amazing bands I’ve run into who I doubt have been active for 4+ years, and The Doomspell Tournament come to mind.

[Scott just mentioned peeved. I apologize for forgetting him. Love his work.]

I second The Weasel King. I just love his songs and voice so much T_T.

Misuse were also awesome! And a lot of bands that only ever made a song or two.

    Great choices so far!

James, we’ve been kicking around some ideas about re-introducing some of those older bands who haven’t been active in years (and may never be again), some things are in the works…

Oliver Boyd still owes us some concept albums 😉

I’m going to add my voice to the chorus of people calling for The Weasel King, and add perhaps Roonil Wazlib? I don’t know if she’s around anymore, but I remember really enjoying her music back in 2007, but I never got her CD and i kick myself for it to this day.

Excellent choices James – “How To Kill A Horcrux, Part 8” is an overlooked gem of an album. Also, I do miss S7W, but Zoe DID leave us with an absolutely prolific amount of work, so I mourn that band’s passing less than say, HMS Wolfstar or MC Kreacher.

If I had to choose only two, though, (and I’m going to make things easier for myself and only choose ones not chosen already – I’m imagining we live in a happy sunshine-filled world where each of us have been given the dark power to raise bands from the dead) I would go with The Brothers Black and The Basilisk In Your Pasta.

The Mudbloods for sure. The Mudbloods The Mudbloods The Mudbloods. Damn I miss The Mudbloods.

I’d also like to throw my hat in with those who say Oliver Boyd, Roonil Wazlib, Alas Earwax, The Weasel King, The Moaning Myrtles, Hogwarts Trainwreck and Peeved.

I’d love to see more from Standing in Line, the Buttermellows, Marked as His Equal, Into the Pensieve, Sue and the Hufflepuffs. And of course Dumbledore. And The Mudbloods.

Oh man, everyone has excellent taste and have already said Peeved, The Mudbloods, Oliver-Boyd and the Remembralls and The Weasel King.

One band that hasn’t been mentioned is the Hermione Crookshanks Experience. Also the Brothers Black, who had one amazing EP and then disappeared forever.

Ahh so many excellent wizard rock bands….

I’d definitely agree with everyone mentioned so far with a special mention for The Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office as they had so much promise and Split Seven Ways who is just perfect . . . oh and Peeved who always makes me smile.

Actually, can I just have EVERYONE who has ever recorded a wrock song back and recording please?
