As I’m sure you all know very well by now, I love the Wizard Rock Community for many reasons. One of my absolute favorite things about it is the eagerness with which its members dedicate their time and effort to various charities. Some that have been the focus of Wizard Rockers in the past have been the Harry Potter Alliance, First Book, and To Write Love on Her Arms. Now that list of charities (already well longer than the sample I provided for you here), is getting a new name added to it: The Hall Steps Foundation.

Erinn Lewis, an active member of the Wrock Community, and Aaron Nordyke, a member of the band Ministry of Magic, are both avid runners and have been moved by the story of elite distance runners Ryan and Sara Hall. This husband and wife couple went on a mission trip to Africa and were inspired to form the Hall Steps Foundation as a charitable initiative to support programs designed to relieve those who are poverty-stricken around the US and abroad. They have each committed to donate 100% of their prize winnings from races to the charity.

Inspired by the Halls, these two amazing members of the Wrock Community “have found a way to use something we love, such as running, to help those in need. In its truest sense, the weapon we have is love,” Erinn told me.

Both Erinn and Aaron have set a goal of raising $1,000 for the Hall Steps Foundation. While they recognize that this is quite a lofty goal, but they believe firmly in the importance of what the Foundation intends to accomplish and their part in achieving those goals.
