Under-Appreciated Song of the Week

This week’s pick comes from the band The Nymphadora’s and the song is “Secret Family of Bellatrix.”

The first thing that comes to my mind when listening to this song is “different”, and that is the best thing to think when listening to wizard rock. She broadens the genre, especially with this song. It is very dark, but the lyrics brighten the song up a bit. It has a techno-ish instrumental and the vocals project into an echo-y type sound. It’s incredible.

The subject is Tonks and how Bellatrix remains her “secret family.” The lyrics go through how her own family considers her a traitor but also how Tonks isn’t beat up by that fact; in fact, she even likes it. It’s very rebellious and is a bit like “you’re doing this, but I don’t care because this is who I am.” It is a pretty powerful message. Just be yourself in the end.

It is extremely catchy and you will not be disappointed, so make sure you head on over to take a listen here. It’s even downloadable. What could be more awesome than that?

Also, a big thank you to Stephy S. for suggesting the song and band. She described it as “bombastic”.
