DWR Awards Cancelled, Cruciatus Curse Contemplating Retirement

After a four day Internet craze, Dark Wizard Records representatives have cancelled their Wizard Rock Awards event. The decision came after DWR received complaints from bands and fans about the way the awards were being organized. Denni Towle, of DWR and The Cruciatus Curse, released this apology today. Denni also wrote this blog entry expressing his desire to retire from the wizard rock scene. While we, obviously, adore the wizard rock community, we have also witnessed this sort of harassment upon public figures in the community at hands of the fans. If able, please take the time to leave Denni comments of encouragement. The spirit of wizard rock is one of friendship, and while you may have had issues with the organization of the awards, it is completely unnecessary to react with such malevolence.

A number of bands are also diappointed in the way Denni has been treated, including Roonil Wazlib, who writes about the situation in this blog.

In closing, we hope that all of the parties involved continue creating and celebrating wizard rock in 2007.
