The Weird Sisters

A special CD review for Celebrity Pets by Dr. Hamburger the Magical Music Dog. Check out the ‘zine on MySpace.

Switchblade Kittens “The Weird Sisters”
Hollywood’s pop-rock starlets The Switchblade Kittens return to the radar with a new mix of power-pop and new wave Kittie-chaos! With the entire record (yes all 13 tracks) focused on J.K. Rowling’s kiddie (as in kids) fiction, “The Weird Sisters” chronicles the Harry Potter book series. In a departure from previous albums and EP’s this record shows a greater emphasis on the synthesizer sounds of the “bassola” which makes for a brighter and catchier mix. Even songs like “Ode to Harry Potter”, which appeared in earlier years via the internet, receive a new re-working and make a definite change for the better. If you’re a self-proclaimed “potter-head” then this is a must have. If you hate the books, then ignore the cover art and enjoy the good music…all in all, not bad for a bunch of cats.
