Exploring the Swedish Scene

Introduction

Hello all!

My name is Kjetil. I grew up in Norway, but moved to Ohio when I was 15 and lived there for eight years. In 2007 I found wizard rock while going to high school and got involved with the local scene as well as going to a few Wrockstocks and conventions. I always knew there was a pretty vibrant wrock scene in Sweden and I thought that was cool but it never went further than that. Now that I am back in my home country I am excited to find out more about the wizard rock scene in the neighborhood. So join me as I, a fellow outsider to the scene, try to get to know it.

I’ll be providing news updates as well as maybe some interviews and reviews in the future.

Updates

The weekend of 25-28th of June was Dobbycon. A Swedish Harry Potter con that naturally featured a lot of wizard rock programming. The entire event was of course online due to the epidemic, so a lot was recorded and you can still catch some of what happened.
On saturday Anna of the Swedish Shortsnouts held a wizard rock workshop. This was recorded, but the recording is not released yet.
Later on saturday was the wizard rock concert featuring four bands:

Featherwillow (not recorded, no bandcamp)

Swedish Shortsnouts played alongside Jimmy from Solitary Snape (don’t miss the new song Drakvetrinären “The Dragon Veterinary”)

Luney Tunes (not recorded) also used the occasion to release an album.

Pussycat Dolores rounded out the night.

For the tech nerds, Erik from the Shortsnouts also made a video of the rigging for the streamed concert.

Pussycat Dolores was interviewed on episode 8 of WZRD Radio
She also submitted a song to the 2020 wizard rock sampler, so look out for that when the sampler comes out.

At the end of the third Trapped in the House Show on GeekBeatRadio there was a short discussion about bringing on the Shortsnouts as well as two other acts to play at a later date (clip)
