From the Editor, Vol. 1

Today is a very special day in the Potter fandom. Prior to becoming a member of this amazing community, April Fool’s Day was not one of my favorite days of the year. I have a few mischievous friends. Have you had your bed wrapped in aluminum foil before? Good times!

The first of April is not just a day to play pranks in the world of Harry Potter. Fred and George Weasley were born on this day. The twins are the epitome of fun and celebration, at least to me. I have fond memories of fandom pranks in years previous and it seemed like this year it was even more important to join in on the fun after losing one of our favorite Weasleys last year.

So it may seem a bit odd that instead of playing a prank like everyone else, the Wizrocklopedia is revealing a new way to archive wizard rock’s presence and history. A wiki for wizard rock. A wiki. Like WikiPedia. For wizard rock. It’s not some crazy antic. It won’t cause a fit of giggles. And yet I feel like it’s entirely fitting for this day.

I’ve been a member of this community for three years now. It’s brought me hours upon hours of happiness and joy, it’s given me a place where I belong, and it’s enabled me to do what I’m really passionate about. Writing is what I love to do. I get to sit down and write, even if it’s a few sentences at a time about many different people, every day, thanks to wizard rock. Thanks to Harry Potter.

Wizard rock is fun. It’s passionate. Celebrating it with one another is one of the things that makes it so amazing. I hope that in creating the WrockWiki we can continue having the amazing good times that we have right now.

Although I doubt that Fred and George would be excited for this new part of the Wizrocklopedia, I do feel that the wizard rock community shares the twins’ philosophy toward life. It’s loud. It can cause trouble. It has also been known to make a stink in the face of injustice. I am therefore dedicating the wiki to Fred Weasley. This wrock is for you, Fred!
