Weekly Wrock Wrap Up

We’ve had a lot of wizard rock news pop up this week, so let’s get right to it!

The Yule Ball 2016

Earlier this week, Harry and the Potters announced this year’s Yule Ball dates! There will be three Yule Balls this year, giving wizard rock fans on the East Coast ample opportunity to see some fantastic wrock performances.

The dates and locations of this year’s Yule Balls are:

  • December 15 – Brooklyn, NY
  • December 16 – Washington, DC
  • December 18 – Cambridge, MA

For more information about lineups and tickets, you can visit our Shows page here on the ‘pedia or check the Harry and the Potters website as well.

New Songs

A number of new songs were released this week, check them out!

The Lovegoods uploaded a song from their very first full band rehearsal to their YouTube channel.

The Lovegoods will be playing their very first show later this month, you can find out more information about it here. They are also planning on getting into the studio for their first release soon, so keep an eye out for that!

Losing Lara posted the beautiful “Feel Like a Horcrux” on her YouTube channel also.

Lara let us know that she has even more wizard rock songs on the way, so be sure to subscribe to her channel!

Classic Track of the Week

Talons and Tea Leaves was a wizard rock duo comprised of Doug from Catchlove, and Christian from Oliver Boyd and the Remembralls. Recently a fan reached out to the two of them on Twitter to inquire about an old track that was no longer online; Doug graciously posted it on his Soundcloud site as a free download in response! Give it a listen (and a download) here!

I discovered wrock in 2006 and fell in love with it completely in 2007. After fronting a band that played too loud & sang too out of tune but got to perform at Wrockstock anyways, I traded in the guitar and drums for a keyboard to help with the ‘pedia. You may still hear (or see) me bashing away on the drums for other wrock bands.
