Question Tuesday

There have been plenty of wrock songs that have covered or mentioned nearly every character, and situation, in the Potter books. Sometimes certain plot elements were used numerous times by bands as inspiration – Chapter 34, or the Final Battle, for instance.

So let’s take this Tuesday’s question in the complete opposite direction:

What’s your favorite song that sings about, or mentions, an obscure character or situation from the books?

It could be a song from the POV of a character that you had to look up, or a reference to a situation you completely forgot from the novels. I’m a big fan of Big Whompy’s namecheck of Davey Gudgeon, for instance.

Let us know your favorite obscure wizard rock reference in the comments below!

Are you kidding? A good 75% of our Humdinger repertoire is one big fat obscure reference. 🙂

Seriously though there is so much minutiae in Wizard Rock I wouldn’t know where to start.

The Giant Squidstravaganva’s “Fang (Keeps Peeing in My Lake)” on the Wizards and Muggles Rock for Social Justice: Vol 2. A) it’s the giant squid singing. B) it’s about Fang. It’s short and sweet!

I gotta go with The Humdingers’ “Has Anybody Seen my Goyle?” on this one. I didn’t used to think tomatoes were funny.

I have to say that the Moaning Myrtles are the best when it comes to this! The fact that they have songs about every single instance Myrtle appears in the books (and several in which she doesn’t)… they even mention Olive Hornby in their songs! I just reread the series, and an awful lot of lines jumped out at me in Lauren and Nina’s voices.
