The HPA is participating in the Chase Challenge on Facebook for a chance to win $250,000. (Details on how to vote are below.)
What causes would you like this money to help, if (when?) the HPA wins?

I know we all have causes near to our heart, but I also believe in timeliness. At the moment, I would love for the HPA to organize something we can do to help with the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

Vote for The Harry Potter Alliance in the Chase Challenge on Facebook, and the HPA could win $250,000. It takes only 30 seconds. Here’s how:

1. Go to http://bit.ly/hpaFTW click “Get Started” and “Like” the Facebook app, then vote (green button, top right)!

    It would be cool to see them do something to help with the Gulf. The cause closest to my heart is making the Negev desert livable, but I don’t think that would be appropriate for the HPA. So basically, I don’t know. How about we let Andrew figure it out?

    High five Julia! We don’t need Andrew to fidure out that oil moves like dementors breeding on the sadness of this hour.
    I really hope they do something with the Gulf situation, we agree, as a family if we could apparate, we’d be spending our summer vacation wiping down those Pelicans and sticking it to the big business men who what appear to have no conscious of the ecological horror they they have caused.

    Hey all! I’m Holly and I’m from the HPA staff. The HPA actually has a list on the website about what will happen with the money if (when?) we win it. http://www.thehpalliance.org/help-the-harry-potter-alliance-win-250000/#wheremoney

    The basic breakdown is:
    $20,000 We improve literacy
    $100,000 We improve literacy AND expand our LGBT rights efforts
    $250,000 We improve literacy, expand LGBT efforts, AND build an online coalition of Fandoms, YouTube Communities, and Organizations (like what we did for Helping Haiti Heal, only on a much bigger, more massive, and much more permanent scale)

    But please continue to talk about what causes are important to you that you would like to see the HPA work on. We are always interested in what our supporters feel we should be focusing on.

    I agree with the oil spill thing, along with more books to children who need them.
    Oh, as of June 27, 10:23, HP Alliance is winning with 5619 votes!!!! Keep up the great work guys!
