Wait, Lena’s a Hufflepuff? And the Humdingers are SLYTHERIN!?!? Wow… I was thinking Lena was a Ravenclaw, and I would have sworn up and down the Humdingers were Gryffindors. Apparently I’m waaay off on what houses some people are in. 😛

Congrats to everyone who got nominated! Deciding who to nominate and vote for keeps getting harder every year as there’s ever more awesome bands to choose from. Sometimes I wish every category worked like the International Awards just because choosing a single (song/CD/band) to vote for in any given category is hard to do with so many highly worthy options to choose from. XD

  2. Clare Avatar

Heck yeah, Lena is a Puff! It sucks (to be a Hufflepuff) is by the butterbeer experience, and she’s proud to have the badger as a mascot 🙂

Anyways, that’s a pretty awesome list!

This is exciting!!! Thanks to everyone that put in a nomination for us.

One small correction for Quidditch Witch under Best Hip-Hop: Fred and George The Band participated in that song, not Gred and Forge.

  4. Marauder Avatar

Oooh, good, a bunch of my nominations made the final ballot…”Dearest, Delusional” for Best Folk/Country/Blues Song, “Fair Fortune – A Wrock Opera” for Best Collaboration, “Lily’s Worst Memory” for Best Comedy Song, Let’s Lumos! for Best New Artist and Best Kept Secret, The Deathsticks for Best Youth Effort, JFF for Best Hufflepuff Band, Swish and Flick for Best Slytherin Band, Romilda Vane and the Chocolate Cauldrons and Let’s Lumos! for Best Female Vocals, Romilda Vane and the Chocolate Cauldrons for International, “VII” for Best Full-Length Album, and “Tonks for the Memories” for Best EP.

Congratulations to everybody! This looks like a great final ballot full of talented people and terrific music. 😀

  5. Marauder Avatar

Oh – even if we didn’t get on the final ballot, thanks to everyone who voted for “If I Were A Snitch, Man” for Best Comedy Song, because I know some of you did. Next year we’ll get even better and sweep this thing. 😉

Thanks for all the nominations!! What a diverse and exciting ballot!! Good luck everyone!!<3

Fixed, my dear Flick! That was totally my typo late in the night. Yikes!

I’m so glad you all are happy with the results so far! I can’t wait to share with you the final three categories!

  8. the Giant Squidstravaganza Avatar

    THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!

  9. Scott Humdinger Avatar

If it’s not too late, I’d like to nominate the Giant Squidstravaganza for “Best use of Multiple Appendages” Though I suppose Ministry of Magic Would also fall into this category. (Besides, I heard they’re only doing Giant Squidstravaganza covers for their set at Wrockstock this year).

Thanks for putting this together. The list alone is reminder enough of why I love wizard rock.

IN YOUR FACE, GIANT SQUID! IF YOU HADN’T CALLED US HATERS, THIS NEVER WOULD HAVE HAPPENED – BECAUSE WE RIGGED THIS! MWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

  13. Becky (The Silver Doe) Avatar

Hey, this is Becky from The Silver Doe! First of all, I’d like to thank you for all of the work you put into this, I think it’s a really good thing to generate interest for wizard rock and to get the word out about all the amazing bands that exist.

Secondly, I just wanted to let you know that the album art from my album Lily’s Last Breath was done by Lena Iren Olden, since you didn’t have a name there.

  14. Clare Avatar

    I second Scott’s nomination.

  15. Freya Avatar

Thanks, Becky! We couldn’t find her name anywhere, and she definitely deserves the credit. Her work was beautiful.

As for the Giant Squid…better luck next year, dude! Maybe by then you will have used your squiddy powers for evil and taken over the Wizrocklopedia. We wish you the best of luck.

  16. Abby Avatar

Yeah… we need to clarify something, too.
I just wanted y’all to know that OUR squid, the purple & pink spokesquid for Wrockstock, also known as Squiddy… he doesn’t neccessarily agree with or support the opinions and statements shared by the other giant squid in question.
He’s simply happy for all the nominees.
    😀

  17. Denni Towle Avatar

Well at least The Cruciatus Curse is sorta nominated with the “We’re Freakin Awesome” compulation…works for me

  18. Brad Ausrotas Avatar

I had no IDEA that Jace was a ‘Claw. Now I know who I’m voting for! Also, I guess it’s pretty bad of me that I didn’t know MoM put out an album last year xD

  19. Jenni Avatar

OMG. There are so many awesome nominees, I have no idea who to vote for! Aggghhh!!!!!!

  20. PK9 Avatar

Wow, these nominations are incredible. It’s gonna be hard to choose!

Yay, I finally get to vote! The last two years I missed the voting by a few days each time :p

    Hmm,
With a few exceptions, this list was entirely too predictable. The same people are nominated every year.

You people need to expand your musical horizons. There are TONS of great bands out there that never get any cred. Just because they’re not the “Big 10” doesn’t mean they suck.

Granted, the “Big 10” are pretty rockin’…it’s just disappointing to see the same people get recognized over and over while others are struggling so hard just to even be heard.

I think next year the ‘Pedia could benefit from having a few more categories that encourage people to listen to OTHER, less known bands, that the regulars aren’t eligible for. “Best Kept Secret” and “Best New Band” just don’t cut it. It’s just 2 categories for the other HUNDREDS of bands to try and get in to.

And yeah, while not everyone can win….we’re a community that needs to practice what we preach and really support EVERYONE and not just the same people all the time.

I nominated several bands that just didn’t get enough nominations, I guess, who have a lot of musical talent that no one will give the time of day because they’re not one of the “in” bands…no matter how hard they seem to be trying.

I don’t want to cheapen anyone’s nomination, I think everyone listed deserves it, I just think there should be more opportunities for the “smaller” bands (who, let’s face it, are the long-term FUTURE of wrock) to really feel appreciated and successful. It’s incredibly discouraging for them, I hear, to put in so much effort and then nobody appears to care. It’s almost like many of these bands are being “rejected” from wrock, which is just not cool. If we’re going to be a community that claims to be supportive, we really need to take steps to facilitate achieving that.

And yeah, not everyone can win or be nominated…but the WRPCA’s need to be potentially attainable by everyone. That’s something that we, as fans, need to do for our community…and that the Pedia can help with by maybe adding some new categories.

Weren’t there, last year, like “best non-human” band and “best underwater band” and stuff?

The Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office totally should have been nominated for best full length album!

  24. MissParkinson Avatar

@Lynn418 I had the same complaint last year, about how so many smaller bands didn’t get in, and while I agree it has something to do with how many categories there are, you can’t blame a band for having fans.

Smaller bands need to network, and network hard. There are 900 bands now, and it’s hard for everyone to just go through the listings and listen to every single band. We usually learn of bands through reccomendations.

Want them to make onto next years ballot? Then let them know that they need to start shamelessly self-promoting themselves, and YOU need to tell everyone you can about them!

  25. Abby Avatar

That’s a really naive statement, Miss Parkinson.
Sorry, but I’m gunna have to disagree with that. I can only speak for myself, but when I see a band being shamelessly self-promotey, it totally turns me off… especially if I don’t like their music all that much to begin with. It comes across pretty d-baggy if you haven’t got the skills to back it up. There is a “right” level of promotion that most of the most popular bands have been giving examples of for years.
I don’t reward d-bag behavior no matter what and I don’t think the wizard rock community does either. So I’m gunna call that bad advice.
    Still love ya, just disagree.
