Question Everyday, part 4

You guys have done a really great job of helping us out with this brainstorming!
Here are a few more categories to ponder:

Best Merch Item (anything that is not music counts!)
Best Youth Effort
Best Music Video

As far as merch goes, there were a lot of awesome new designs for tshirts this year, plus wizard rockers started branching out. We saw hoodies, girly-sized tees, and even glow in the dark ink! There were also tote bags, frisbees, pint glasses, sunglasses, and more. I was so excited to see all of the non-tshirt stuff. Don’t get me wrong, I love tshirts, but I just have so many at this point! My votes would go to Tonks and the Aurors’ sunglasses, JFF’s Hairy Heart raglan tee, or The Whomping Willows’ frisbees.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think The Hungarian Horntails released any new music in 2009. The only bands I can think of with an under 19 representative are The Nifflers and I Speak Tree. Are the Siriusly Hazza P girls under 19?

Best Music Video can be any video, fan or artist made, that came out in 2009. The Group That Shall Not Be Named put together a group dance to ‘Death Eater Tango’ that is great, and we can’t forget about the awesome job The Remus Lupins and Brandon Nicholas did with their ‘Seven Potters’ video.

While I will definitely end up voting for the Seven Potters music video, I do love the Dancing Death eaters, and all of Christine (HpTwilighter)’s music videos which are amazing

When it comes to Youth effort, I love I Speak Tree, her music is amazing. For this category do you just need one member who is under 19 or do all members of the band need to be under 19?

I have no idea what is the best merch item this year, there is so much awesome stuff out there.

  3. James Avatar

Siriuysly Hazza P are both under 19
    The half kneazles
    The Lost Diadems
    The pumpkin pasties

Best Merch – I don’t want to sound conceited or like a commercial, but I think our “Wizard Rocks” are pretty damn cool. Each polished stone has a spell-word written on it in silver calligraphy.

I also really like the Tonks & the Aurors coloring books. (and to my friend Grace, I chuckle quietly)

Best Youth Effort – The Half-Kneazles, Standing in Line, I Speak Tree. All of these young ladies are incredibly talented. If I had half their talent at that age, I would be Billy Joel.

The Horcrux Heroes and Deathsticks for best youth effort.

What about The Crucio! Kids…they did “Party Like Your Evil” on the DatM Tribute album….just sayin…

Scott, I would almost vote for your wizard rocks for best merch, but you don’t have one that says “Wizard.” I therefor vote for Whompy’s eye patches.

Best youth effort either the Half-Kneazeles or the Gargling Nargles.

And Seven Potters for best music video.

I’m not sure why no one mentioned my stuff yet in these categories, but here are some voting suggestions

Best Merch Item – the Giant Squidstravaganza’s Particle Accelerator
Best Youth Effort – the Giant Squidstravaganza’s planned compilation disc with benefits proceeding the Architeuthis Youth Center of Rapid City
Best Music Video – the Giant Squidstravaganza: the High School Years

Julia, we have one of those wizard rocks ready for you. We were going to bring it to NYC. Now we’ll have to sneak to New Haven and throw it through your window! 🙂

Don’t forget all the music videos done by Dawlish and the Archies. I don’t know if “Moochka Dance” really counts as wizard rock, but it’s hilarious, lol.

  16. Dawlish and the Archies Avatar

Oh, man, badger666, thanks so much! The way we see it, Moochka Dance is meta-wizard rock, if you count fansites like the leaky cauldron in the realm of meta-wrock.

Also, best merch is fo def The Giant Squidstravaganza’s flux capacitor, followed by JFF’s indie rock buttons. I love indie rock buttons. Seriously, I’ve got like 50 on my tie.

Also, shameless link to aforementioned Moochka Dance video:

Merch: Tonks and the Aurors sunglasses or JFF’s pint glasses, fo’ sho.

Youth Effort: I Speak Tree. I’m probably voting for Tianna in every category she’s eligible. 😀

Music Video: For work and effort alone, Seven Potters.

  24. Abby Avatar

Do Wrockstock Hoodies count for merch? Cause they’re pretty darn warm and very cool-looking. Just throwin’ that out there…

You are correct, the Horntails did not released anything new in 2009, but Darius is currently writing with the Princess of Hogwarts and on his own for something exciting for 2010!

The top hptwilighter 2009 videos I would nominate are:
    For Jo (Riddle TM)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Unms0DvGg_Q

    Not the End (Roonil Wazlib)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m8zi0NjJcdc

    Phoenix (Riddle TM)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=COTOJpOcKn4

Christine’s also got a collab channel (lookingfornargles) which did music videos weekly. For consideration:

    Star Crossed Brothers (Malfoy Manor)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ceV0kEyGIvM

    U Down w/OOTP (Dumbledore)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJrWDkNmR5Y

Snape vs Snape (Ministry of Magic)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oibg5KTSr_w

Going Back to Hogwarts (Starkid Potter)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kVnzuFx-BqI

Actually, now that I think about it, the whole AVPM is a 3-hour music video isn’t it? Maybe we should just hand the award to StarKid… =)

I don’t know how long we have to nominate…

    Can I second PK9 on HPTwilighter’s videos?

I’d like to add her tribute to Camelot Treasures which is also a video for I Lose Myself (The Blibbering Humdingers)-http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zYIfIms59aI

Heck, can I nominate all her videos of 2009? They’re all really awesome.
    http://www.youtube.com/user/hptwilighter

As for best youth effort, I’ll try to find as many as I can and come back tomorrow, if that’s ok, but I’m going to nominate the Pumpkin Pasties.

Okay, I’ve basically been waiting since the last PCAs to vote for Seven Potters for best video, so I’ll probably do that (seriously, its awesome!), although Howler is tempting. However, for me, its a better song than video, but only a bit. It is a bloody good video, but Seven Potters outranks it, I think.

Also, totally agree with I Speak Tree for best youth effort. Isn’t she awesome?

PS OMG Snape vs Snape and Star Crossed Brothers have videos?? I’ve been away too long, I MUST SEE THEM! Seriously, awesome songs.

  30. PK9 Avatar

I’ve seen the Seven Potters video now and it’s pretty amazing. Unfortunately Christine’s videos aren’t eligible because they use copyrighted material, so I’m probably voting for Seven Potters.

Speaking of waiting, I already have a best video nomination idea for the *2011* WRPCAs, I just have to remember it when next year rolls around!
